Massage Artistes

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

OK. I can’t stand it any more. I have to talk about massages in the $250 an hour range. In D.C.

First off, when I get a massage in Marin County, one of the most expensive places to live in the U.S., I pay from $55 – $90 an hour. So THAT’S interesting!

Second off, Deborah Palfrey ran her Pamela Martin and Associates in D.C. from Vallejo, California for pete’s sake! How did she do that? I mean I love the internet and think it is changing our lives but, how did she get her piece of the action, her sawbucks? How did she check up on the wardrobes? Virtual pimping is really quite a novel concept, which I expect to see written up in PC World immediately.

Third off, if “massage” is being used in the first case above as a euphemism for human activities that to some human beings are unspeakable then I think it’s still a bit costly, being of the school if you can’t get it free it ain’t worth having, but basically it’s OK with me.

Fourth, it has always struck me as odd that the two biggest motivators of human behavior –sex and money– are thought by most to need a firewall between them.

Fifth, so long as its consensual, really consensual, naked Rolfing shouldn’t get anyone’s nose out of joint, unless it’s the fidelitor and fidelitee.

Sixth, what is below the surface of Tobia’s remark that he has lately turned to a service with Central American ladies? (See consensual, above, or Digby, here.)

Sixth, if you make a fine living thundering about sex as the unspeakable act, vituperating those who think otherwise, and then get caught delightedly doing the very unspeakable, then you are fair game: Dick Morris, Randall “Abstinence” Tobias, Harlan “Shock and Awe” Ullman… more to come.

Frankly, I can’t wait to see the ABC special about Ms. Palfrey’s phone list. I just hope in our happiness at the good fortune of seeing hypocrites fall we don’t revive the Puritan within us all….

Climate Catastrophe vs Sex Evils

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

In another scary cartoon…

Leaders of several conservative Christian groups have sent a letter urging the National Association of Evangelicals (to which they do not belong) to force its policy director in Washington to stop speaking out on global warming.

Don’t Talk About Climate Catastrophe! We’re Busy Fantasizing about Sex Evils!

Faggots All Around!

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

Update: Various responses, including Edwards and some conservatives, at Editor and Publisher.

Ann Coulter, featured and cherished main speaker at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, called John Edwards a faggot and got a standing ovation, actually a standing, screaming, cheering ovation. There is lots of commentary about this, though very little in the major media which seems to have exhausted their attention to such matters with a feeding frenzy over two bloggers hired by Edwards a few weeks back. For starters you can’t do better than Glen Greenwald at Salon (ad view needed.)

This is a movement propelled by an insatiable hunger for more slaughter and more wars. It is centrally dependent upon hatred of an Enemy, foreign or domestic — the Terrorist, the Immigrant, the Faggot, the Raghead, and most of all, the Liberal. As John Dean brilliantly documented, that is the only real feature that binds the “conservative” movement at this point, the only attribute that gives it identity and purpose. It does not have any affirmative ideas, only a sense of that which it hates and wants to destroy. So to watch as the crowd wildly cheers an unapologetic hatemonger is perfectly natural and not at all surprising.

Haggard Masseur Talks: A Lot

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Michael Jones, the “masseur” Ted Haggard turned to for a healing touch in his time of need, opens up to Michelangelo Signorile on his OutQ show. This is quite explicit so cover your eyes….

Signorile interviews fallen-evangelical-leader Ted Haggard’s male hooker .

It’s pretty interesting that Jones claims he himself did not use Haggard’s name when he finally spoke publically — that came from some enterprising reporters. Jones also had made up his mind months ago to do something and the initially approached TV station wanted video footage and DNA evidence. Hard to say whether that request was good reporting, CYA-ing, or purient marketing dreams. Finally, from the tone of Jones speech, and the text here, you have to like the guy.

“I don’t feel like a hero. I wasn’t trying to be a hero. I’m at the age of 49. I saw a lot of my friends going through hell in years past, where one of the partners would die and the other family would come in and say get out of the way, and just rape the house, and there was a lot of crying. I felt like this was a responsibility to my fellow gay brothers to do this.”

Sexual Supression

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Damn! The Kerry gaffe that occupied the TV news for two days is completely vaporized. Now we have the real deal: SEX! And even better, HOMO sexual sex, and even better, by a fabulously famous Christian moralist who has warned his flock of millions, for years, about the evil evil homosexual agenda.

Ted Haggard, one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in the US, according to Time Magazine, a participant in weekly conference calls to the White House, a rip-roaring anti-gay preacher has been caught with his pants down. Literally. He’s been accused of having a three year, monthly, $200 a pop (so to speak) business arrangement with a male prostitute. Yesterday he resigned as President of the National Association of Evangelicals.

Today, the board of his New Life Church in Colorado Springs, has arranged for Haggard to step aside from his pastorship there with the comment that there “had been some admission of guilt.”

Fabulous. CNN

Update: YouTube clip of Good Morning America with Haggard’s voice (claimed) asking for meth.

[It's interesting to watch Haggard in the TV clips close his eyes as he says "I've been faithful to my wife."]

Haggard had been a big promoter of Colorado’s up-coming No Gay Marriage vote to ammend the Colorado consitution. His trystee, Mike Jones, had not known who his John was — knowing him only as “Art” –until Haggard’s face began gracing TV ads in favor of the ammendment. Jones, less hypocritcal than Haggard, wrestled with his conscience and his conscience won: Jones went public.

I can see why Haggard wants to have his cake and eat it too (so to speak.) Banning gay marriage, demonizing gays, makes his own transgressive desires even more dangerous and therefore more erotic. I’m not sure I want to work out all the psycho-sexual implications here, or hear any more details from Mr. Jones, but power and submission along with the hidden and forbidden are bound to be part of the eternal mystery of sex being played out in one more tawdry motel room…

Pedophilia

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

I asked the other day, following the Amish murder cases and the Foley revelations, what a person in the US can do, if plagued by sexual fantasies of children. At least one hospital in Berlin has asked the same question and come up with some answers, including a program for those who come in, and a public education campaign to let people know there is help available. The story is difficult to read — and not because of pornographic images. Ralf, the man featured in the story, has a life one would change for schizophrenia I believe.

Ralf P. is plagued by sexual fantasies of the kind he would rather not have — he’s pedophile and struggling to resist his own impulses. Berlin’s Charité hospital now offers a new program combining counseling and hormone therapy for men in his situation.

“I Hate My Desires – They Make Me Sick”

I am not aware of such programs or education campaigns in the US. If there are any known to any of you please send on links and news. I’ll post them.

Hastert To Resign?

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Update: Hastert, I did nothing wrong and I did Nothing Wrong.

The early rumors were that Hastert had prevailed on Louis Freeh, ex FBI Chief, to head an investigation. Apparently not. Not clear yet who is to do this investigation.

The House Ethics Committee has also decided to do an investigation, having sent out about 4 dozen subpoenas. Howard Berman (D-CA) will be on the sub-committe. Interesting.

CNN is reporting at 9:30a.m. that Hastert will have a news conference within the hour. The bloggies are abuzz with whether it will be an outright resignation, or a promised one.
