Finally! The Little Ice Age is finally ending, and Greenland will be as fertile as it was when the Vikings first colonized it and named it Greenland.

It's interesting to hear McCain criticize anyone for being a latecomer to this bill considering that he has threatened to vote against it unless it contains greater subsidies for nuclear power. I assume he has been speaking to some lobbyists. I seriously question his judgment.

I am glad you added the EPA analysis to your post; it's a great companion to any analysis of the bill.

Frankly, I am on the fence about Lieberman-Warner. I hate to see all of the corporate give-aways to heavy polluters. See Congressional Budget Office Director’s Blog about the giveaway of emissions credits to corporations under Lieberman-Warner:http://cboblog.cbo.gov/?p=78

I also think we are not doing enough to encourage energy efficiency with this bill.

Expect to see the bill on the floor of the Senate for debate between June 2-6. The Dems are expecting it to die because the GOP is blocking it. We'll see.

Will,
You have found your "pillow", and the essence of the continuum, that binds us . Silence on the pillow is in Buddhist terms Vipassana where we can examine our thoughts and let them go, and "Shamata" where we experience "emptiness" or the interdependency of all things. I love your Death Valley story and that it gave you so much.
Ruth

death valley is a very special place .... i used to go there because it would do the kind of cleaning that'd flush the shit out of the spiritual corners, letting the soul shine through once again ..... there's something about the clarity of that air, without the particulate matter of debris that have cycled through a million people's lungs and assholes, where you can see the nits on a bird's butt fourteen miles away that helps put things back into the perspective you should have when you look at the milky way without light pollution and know, once again, how small you are ....

and how okay that is .....

i met robin in death valley, which should have been an omen ..... we went to do the death valley century (bike ride), a hundred and twelve mile out-and-back ..... we'd go back every year after that, not unlike the salmon; navigating the trackless wastes--how do these simple creatures orient themselves in the vastness? couldn't they just stay home and fuck?

children have interrupted that, of course but ..... riding in death valley will always be one of life's peak experiences, like the time i had a headwind for fifty miles, going out and--coming back--i could stop pedalling and the wind'd propel me at over twenty-six miles an hour ..... or the time we came back from scotty's castle; the valley floor was absolutely covered in wildflowers and, as the sun started sinking over the western range, the valley fluoresced incandescent yellow, flowers backlit in saturated splendor ....

people think it's hot there, but it's not; one year the snow floor dropped to two thousand feet and a number of riders were hauled off the course, with hypothermia .....

you wanna babysit?

i wanna go ride death valley .......

best to lexie,
