Some of you are old enough to have your eyebrows involuntarily raised over Preznut Bush’s praise of the Hungarians 1956 revolt against Soviet power. “What a minute… Didn’t…? I was only a kid but wasn’t the US a no show?” Indeed. Worse, the US did a premature Bush Sr. act by encouraging revolt and resistance and then not following through.

“Poor fellows, poor fellows,” President Dwight Eisenhower said privately as he campaigned for reelection. “I wish there were some way of helping them.”
